Each day we will have Daily Devotionals and Community to help encourage and strengthen one another in a 21 day journey. We start by giving something up, maybe a certain kind of food or pastime like tv or music and spend time with God instead.
Fasting has the power to break spiritual strongholds in our personal lives and the lives of others, to release healing and deliverance for those in need and to bring direction and to bring clarity for life decisions; however, fasting’s greatest benefit is that it draws us into deeper communion and relationship with God.
Fasting is a means of denying our physical appetites for greater spiritual awareness and impact. It can be abstaining from food and other activities for spiritual purposes. Fasting requires discipline because it starves our appetites and brings our appetite into submission to the Holy Spirit inside of us. As we deny our flesh, our spirt becomes stronger and more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
There is a story in Mark chapter 6, about a boy who was possessed with an evil spirit. The boy was brought to Jesus’ disciples for prayer, but nothing changed. In his moment of need, the exasperated father turned to Jesus for help and here is what occurred:

And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer
Fasting allows us to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit in a supernatural way. Many times, fasting is the only method that will bring break through, deliverance or even answered prayer.
